I was first involved in the Plymouth community in 2010 when I opened my first micro shop Funky Poppy, the button gift shop.
Starting in such an amazing community of businesses on the Barbican meant I started with the best support any Independent business needs. This meant I could grow and develop into the business I am today.
Moving my business from one premise to another to where I am today in the beautiful Ocean Studios in Royal William Yard meant my customers had to follow me all over the city, I am so lucky they have! This is what you cannot beat, our local Plymouth shoppers are loyal.
I love chatting to regulars who have been coming to me since the beginning over 10 years.
Make at 140 is what I have worked so hard on for the last 5 years, I offer modern beautiful fabrics for dressmaking and sewing projects, I spend time carefully choosing the fabrics we sell to make sure they are of the highest quality with an unusual twist. Alongside our fabric, we have the largest collection of unusual buttons in the South West, after all, that is where my love for all things sewing started.
Our big offering is our dressmaking and making workshops from Ocean Studios, offering everything from Beginners sewing to Jeans making and Arm knitting. We love to encourage people to learn something new, watch them grow their passion and really enjoy creating something themselves.
I am passionate about everything Plymouth has to offer and love being part of the independent community.
This campaign really shows off all the jewels Plymouth has, there are so many of them get out and discover them.
